"Kinky Boots" has danced off with the top prize at Sunday's Tony Awards. The feel-good musical, with songs by pop star and Broadway newcomer Cyndi Lauper, won six awards in all on Sunday, including the coveted award for best musical.

Christopher Durang's comical "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" won the Tony for best play. "Matilda the Musical" won four awards and three other shows -- "Pippin," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "The Nance" -- shared three awards each.

Another year, another MTV Movie Awards in the books. The 2013 edition of the show has come and gone, and it was made all the more tremendous by the comedic stylings of Rebel Wilson, who not only hosted the show, but won the Breakthrough Performance award as well. Wilson stands out as one of the biggest winners of the evening, but she wasn't the only person at the Movie Awards with a reason to celebrate.

Blowing past the distant Civil War history of "Lincoln" and the more controversial recent history of "Zero Dark Thirty," director and star Ben Affleck's rousing, reassuringly apolitical thriller "Argo" won Sunday's Academy Award for best picture. This was a rebuke to the very academy bestowing the prize: Affleck failed to receive a directing nomination for "Argo," joining "Zero Dark Thirty" director Kathryn Bigelow as the evening's most conspicuous snubs.

The 70th Annual Golden Globes

"Argo," the retelling of the dramatic rescue of American diplomats during the Iran hostage crisis, and "Les Miserables," a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, were the big winners at this year's Golden Globes.  But the night truly belonged to co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler whose good-natured irreverence was a welcome balance after the last three years when British comedian Ricky Gervais turned the show into a roast. The annual honors by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association unofficially launches the movie industry's awards season.

Only in Hollywood could a tiny, low-budget tale of a little girl named Hushpuppy who lives in the bayou take on a historical epic by master filmmaker Steven Spielberg about the 16th president's struggle to end slavery and the Civil War.
