The Rolling Stones have created a lavish, over-priced celebration of themselves at the Saatchi Gallery in London. The exhibit will be traveling to cities across the USA and Australia. It's hard not to love them for it. We're greeted by a wall of screens pulsing with Mick Jagger's trademark strut and snatches of the great Rolling Stones' riffs and licks. The footage at the start of Exhibitionism, a massive gallery show devoted to the Rolling Stones in London, begins with an early '60s gig; Jagger is shirtless and throwing buckets of water over a tiny, bouncing crowd. It ends with their long-overdue and triumphant Glastonbury debut in 2013.
Beth Moon’s stunning images capture the power and mystery of the world’s remaining ancient trees. These hoary forest sentinels are among the oldest living things on the planet and it is desperately important that we do all in our power to ensure their survival. Let the next generations know the wonder of such trees in life and not only from photograpshs of things long gone. Beth’s portraits will surely inspire many to help those working to save these magnificent trees.
The 89th Academy Awards show was certainly one for the books. After it was all said and done, front-runner "La La Land" won 6 out of its 14 total nominations including best actress and best director. But the most shocking moment of the night went to "Moonlight," which won best picture, after "La La Land" was mistakenly announced. "This is not a joke," a producer from "La La Land" said while standing on stage, correcting the big error. Then, the cast and crew of "Moonlight" eventually took the stage and accepted the award. In addition to the best picture win, "Moonlight's" Mahershala Ali took home his first Oscar for best actor in a supporting role and the film's writers Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney won for best adapted screenplay. "Fences'" Viola Davis also took home her first Oscar for best supporting actress and got an enthusiastic standing ovation from the crowd.
