As of March 1, 2012, whatever you do on one Google-owned site will change whatever you see on another Google property – be it Google' search engine, Docs, Maps, Calendar, Gmail, Picassa, YouTube, G+, etc.

"We can provide reminders that you're going to be late for a meeting based on your location, your calendar and an understanding of what the traffic is like that day," reads Google's blog explaining the search giant's unified policy. This works whether you're accessing Google on your computer, tablet or cellphone, as long as you're logged in.  "People still have to do way too much heavy lifting, and we want to do a better job of helping them out," Google points out.  What the blog posts fails to mention however, is that it is now better equipped to help out law enforcement officials and the government when it comes to finding out about you.

Treasure hunter Greg Brooks of Sub Sea Research in Gorham, Maine found a World War II shipwreck filled with platinum, now worth billions of dollars.  The wreckage of the SS Port Nicholson was found 50 miles off the east coast of the United States.   He says official records show it was carrying boxes of platinum bars - payment from the Soviet Union for US war supplies.  He thinks he's got underwater video footage that proves it. If the claim proves true, it could be one of the richest sunken treasures ever discovered.  But an attorney for the British government expressed doubt the vessel was carrying platinum. And if it was, in fact, laden with precious metals, who owns the hoard could become a matter of international dispute.

The SS Port Nicholson was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat (submarine) in 1942, in an attack that killed six people.  The Atlantic was one of the main battlegrounds in World War II, because Britain and the Soviet Union relied on all sorts of supplies from the US.  Most of these came by ship and they could be easily attacked by German warships and U-boats.  Platinum is a precious metal that is usually more valuable than gold.

LG OLED TV

For years, the future of TV display technology was said to be OLED (organic light-emitting display) technology, which offers excellent performance (absolute black levels, ultra-fast panel and excellent viewing angles) without the need for back-lighting. The technology is already used in many cellphone displays, but--after years of teasing 24- and 30-inch models--both LG and Samsung came to CES 2012 with full-size 55-inch OLED TVs that they're pledging to release before the end of the year.
