Champaign corks popped, rainbow flags flapped and crowds embraced and danced in the streets of Manhattan as New York became the sixth and largest state in the U.S. to legalize same sex marriage. NY City Mayor Michael Bloomberg called the vote "a historic triumph for equality and freedom."

New York's Gay Pride Parade took place on Sunday June 26th, 2011 included the participation of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo after signing the historic bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the Empire State.
