Community of Lights presents a short video snippet of the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Olympic Games which took place August 5, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is the first of several updates that COFL will bring to you during Rio 2016. It includes a unique aerial view of the stadium with the beautiful host city Rio de Janeiro as the background as the spectacular ceremony evokes the first world aviator according to Brazilian history. The Brazilians challenge the assertion that the Wright Brothers were the first to make aviation history with a true airplane since they used a launching rail. By contrast, Santos-Dumont won a competition in France on Oct. 23, 1906, when his winged aircraft flew about 200 feet and then landed safely to win the Aero-Club de France prize of 1,500 francs. We also include a look at the unique parade of athletes showcasing the 32-year-old athlete, who has been identified as Taekwondo contender Pita Taufatofua, (Australian born, representing his father's native island nation of Tonga), who turned heads when he strode into the stadium with his upper body covered with a high-concentration of coconut oil that made sure no viewer missed his six-pack abs or bulging biceps.
