Gilad Shalit landed at an IDF base, where he was greeted by the Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and the IDF Chief of the General Staff. After meeting the officials he was finally reunited with his family, for the first time after more than five years in captivity. In a controversial decision by the Israeli Prime Minister, Gilad, a single Israeli soldier who was kidnaped five years ago, was exchanges for more that a thousand Palestinian prisoners.
