The skin-tight dress Marilyn Monroe wore for her sultry rendition of “Happy Birthday” before then U.S. President John F. Kennedy at a 1962 gala was sold on November 17, 2016  for $4.8 million at an auction in Los Angeles. Ripley’s Believe it or Not purchased the Jean Louis designed dress covered in sequins, the Beverly Hills-based Julien’s Auctions said in a statement.

Peche Di, a Thai beauty queen who studied at New York University, spent five years booking occasional modeling gigs and looking for an agency to represent her. "They didn't understand me," she says, "so I struggled to find work." Finally, this past May, she decided to do something about the lack of opportunities for her and other transgender models.

let me introduce you to the calchemise, a men's garment that's been getting a lot of press for Spring/Summer 2016 primarily in Southern Europe.

calshemise_cover

The calchemise (from the French caleçon, undershorts; and chemise, shirt) combines a dress shirt with what look like boxers to create a romper-like garment that can be worn under regular pants or by itself,  as designed by Simon Freour.  As with most envelope-pushing men's fashion of late, it helps to have good legs and be under thirty.

Rain Dove, the 6-foot 2-inch androgynous model, wearing an In-N-Out white paper hat, denim jeans, high-top sneakers, a pink printed button-up shirt, and a designer leather jacket that was given to her by designer Loris Diran when she walked in his show back in July for Men's New York Fashion Week.

As a student of genetic engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dove didn't come into the modeling world through any traditional routes. She lost a bet on a Cleveland Browns football game to a friend of hers, who was trying to encourage her to become a model. Dove didn't believe in herself at the time, but since she lost the bet, she had no choice but to go to an open casting call. This casting opened the door for Dove to model menswear for Calvin Klein, and she continues to straddle both worlds as a gender-fluid model for both mens and women's wear.

Singers Ricky Martin and Courtney Love, producer Ryan Murphy, tennis legend Martina Navratilova and others have joined Sir Elton John in his call to boycott Dolce & Gabbana following comments by the fashion-house founders opposing adoptions by gay couples and calling children born through in vitro fertilization "synthetic."

"How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic,' " Sir Elton, who turns 68 on March 25, wrote on Instagram Sunday. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has two IVF-conceived children with his husband, David Furnish. "And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF -- a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children," he continued. "Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again.
